About

Nearby Nearby is a rural-first local discovery and community information platform designed to help residents, visitors, businesses, and local leaders find what is nearby, relevant, and available in one place. The platform connects people to local businesses, events, parks, trails, services, jobs, volunteer opportunities, youth activities, and community resources through a location-based digital directory built for small towns and rural communities.

At its core, Nearby Nearby is building a structured local data layer that captures the kinds of community information often missing from traditional search platforms, including local business details, event activity, public spaces, amenities, accessibility, pet-friendly policies, family-friendly features, volunteer needs, service availability, and place-based community resources. This localized data helps improve discovery, visibility, planning, and decision-making for residents, visitors, businesses, and local leaders.

Unlike traditional search or tourism platforms, Nearby Nearby is designed around proximity, local context, and community connection. Our goal is to strengthen local economies by making it easier for people to discover and support nearby businesses, participate in community life, and access trusted local information.

Nearby Nearby is currently building its first launch market in North Carolina, with a broader vision to become digital infrastructure for rural discovery, local visibility, and community resilience. In alignment with this work, our affiliated nonprofit, Nearby Nearby Network, supports rural community resilience by improving access to local information, strengthening economic connectivity, and helping communities better prepare for, respond to, and recover from disaster or disruption.
